Praying hands"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16)

Prayer is the wind in the sails of Good News Family Care. That's why we encourage Christians everywhere to pray for us. If you can spare a little time to pray on a regular basis, why not consider becoming a Prayer Partner?

Being a Prayer Partner is way that anyone can support us - young, old, rich, poor, physically handicapped or able-bodied. As a Prayer Partner you'll receive occasional Prayer Letters by email, outlining specific issues that need your prayers. If you feel you can support us in this way please call Ann Ridgway on 01298 24761

If you are a Christian, living in or near Buxton, why not consider becoming a volunteer? It doesn't matter how much time you have to spare - or even whatClock talents you possess - there is sure to be a way you can help.

There are always jobs to be done - such as cleaning, shopping, painting, decorating, and maintenance, but we also want to hear from people who can offer a warm heart and a sympathetic ear to our clients.

We also need people to answer the door and phone, people to help with children after school - and other tasks. (

£ coinsGood News Family Care aims to be as 'self-financing' as possible but there's always a shortfall between operating costs and income - largely because nobody is ever turned away from our doors due to lack of funding. If God sends a family to us we know we can rely on Him to provide the means to support them. Since we opened in 1995 He has inspired churches, companies, trusts, institutions and individuals to give us their support.

Our need for financial help is on-going, of course, so we need your continued support to develop and maintain existing facilities - and to fund new projects such as Skills Training and Dependency Recovery. We can only help God rebuild broken lives if we have your support.

There are two main ways to make
financial donations:

By post

Send a cheque or postal order (payable to "Good News Family Care") to:

GNFC Treasurer
Charis House
Hardwick Square East
Derbyshire SK17 6PT

Whichever way you decide to support us financially, if you are a British tax payer please complete the Gift Aid declaration. This will enable us to recover tax already paid on your donations from the Inland Revenue - at no extra cost to you.

Regular giving is vitally important to the ministry of Good News Family Care. It enables us to make long-term plans and commitments. Click here if you would like to donate a regular amount.

We welcome gifts of Food, Clothing, Soft Furnishings, Furniture, Electrical Goods, Office Equipment, Toys, Kitchenware, Cutlery etc. Donations of this kind are not only useful in themselves, they release funds for use in other vital areas. Please check our Guide to Donating Goods before delivering. One thing is certain: nothing is wasted - what we don't use directly we pass on to needy families or sell to raise funds. If you would like to receive our current 'Wish List' send an email to

We have support from local churches too and at Harvest Festival time we receive lots of lovely fresh produce and groceries.

Among our more unusual supporters are "The Bikers" - an amiable bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts who visit us from time to time, usually laden to the gills with Toys at Christmas or Easter Eggs (photos) We all look forward to their morale-boosting visits and many children (and parents!) benefit from their generosity.

Another way you can support us is by saving "collectables" such as Postage Stamps and Foreign Currency.

If you have items you wish to donate, such as furniture, clothing, office equipment or computers, please contact 01298 24761

If you would like to hold a fundraising event for the benefit Good News Family Care - from a Coffee Morning to a Concert - we will be happy to provide you with support material - such as leaflets, banners and a 10-minute DVD* about the ministry.

We can also provide a speaker who will give a short presentation and talk about our work. If you would like us to come and share the exciting things God is doing through Good News Family Care, please contact on 01298 24761

* The DVD is also available by post: send a £5 cheque (payable to GNFC) to Keith Jones, GNFC, Charis House, Hardwick Square East, Buxton, Derbyshire SK17 6PT. Remember to include the name and address to which you would like the DVD sent.
