Who can be a volunteer?

You don’t need ‘qualifications’ to be a volunteer at Good News Family Care. If you are a Christian, age 21 or over, and you live in Buxton or the surrounding area, you fit the bill! There are always more jobs than people so, no matter how much time you have to spare, you are assured of a warm welcome! (and don’t worry that you’ll be thrown in at the “deep end” – training and support are important aspects of the program). Take a look at the list above. If there’s anything you can help with, call in to Charis House any day between 10am and 4pm, or telephone (01298) 24761.

The wonderful team pictured here were involved in a scheme called ‘Making Changes – NCS Buxton’ supported GNFC last summer by transforming the two front ground floor rooms and the nursery garden of Charis House! They were an impressive and inspirational group of young people and a delight to be around. They made huge changes both inside and out to a very high standard and in such a short amount of time. They have accomplished a task that we have so much wanted to achieve but have not had the available time or resources so we can truly say that there arrival on our doorstep to ask what they could do for us has been a God-send in the most meaningful way.

What would have taken weeks for us to achieve has now been completed and not only that, but the funds they have raised will furnish and equip this new facility. The new Contact Centre will be available for local services and families, provided a welcoming and comfortable place for parents and children who cannot currently live together to meet.

Well Done all of you! We won’t forget you and all of your superb efforts to support our work with families.
