Family Centre Support Worker
Good News Family Care is seeking a caring and motivated Christian woman to join our Family Centre Support Team in delivering all aspects of the Residential Service.
Good News Family Care is a Christian charity based in Buxton, Derbyshire offering accommodation and support for families in crisis since 1994.
Our Residential Family Centre is in Buxton and provides support and accommodation for women and children who are homeless primarily due to being victims of domestic abuse and frequently suffer from a range of mental health issues due to this.
As an integral part of the support team, you would bring your qualifications and specialist expertise to the vulnerable women and children within our residential/refuge centre, community homes and those we serve within the local community through our outreach work and skills development projects. You will be able to facilitate training in your field of expertise to the rest of the team and to key-work women and families who have need in this particular area. As a support worker, you would support women and their children through their recovery programme to enable them to live independently and so that they can contribute to society without being affected by life controlling issues.
The Family Centre accepts women who may be accompanied by their children (boys over 10 years subject to risk assessments, up to 12 years only). We are urgently recruiting for a female support worker to join our motivated and caring staff team. The team includes workers from complementary professional backgrounds.
You must be in a position to work flexible hours on a 7day rota. Overnight sleep-in may be required on occasions. Salary is depending on qualifications and experience.
Where required there is option to live or stay over in staff accommodation based at Charis House. Conditions of this option would be discussed at interview.
Please note that it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is fully committed to the charity’s Christian ethos, basis of our faith and the stated aims of the charity.
Please send details of your CV, qualifications and previous relevant work experience. Also any work/ volunteering within a Christian context that you have fulfilled and details of your current church involvement.
All appointments are subject to successful completion of a DBS check.
