Good News Family Care is seeking a caring and motivated Christian woman to join our Family Centre Support Team in delivering all aspects of the Residential Service.
Good News Family Care is a Christian charity based in Buxton, Derbyshire offering accommodation and support for families in crisis since 1994.
Our Residential Family Centre is in Buxton and provides support and accommodation for women and children who are homeless primarily due to being victims of domestic abuse and frequently suffer from a range of mental health issues due to this.
As an integral part of the support team, you would bring your qualifications and specialist expertise to the vulnerable women and children within our residential/refuge centre, community homes and those we serve within the local community through our outreach work and skills development projects. You will be able to facilitate training in your field of expertise to the rest of the team and to key-work women and families who have need in this particular area. As a support worker, you would support women and their children through their recovery programme to enable them to live independently and so that they can contribute to society without being affected by life controlling issues.
The Family Centre accepts women who may be accompanied by their children (boys over 10 years subject to risk assessments, up to 12 years only). We are urgently recruiting for a female support worker to join our motivated and caring staff team. The team includes workers from complementary professional backgrounds.

Please note that it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is fully committed to the charity’s Christian ethos, basis of our faith and the stated aims of the charity.
Please send details of your CV, qualifications and previous relevant work experience. Also any work/ volunteering within a Christian context that you have fulfilled and details of your current church involvement.

Qualified Riding Instructor
We are seeking a Sessional Qualified Volunteer Riding Instructor to enable our small Equestrian Project to recommence post Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. We previously provided 2 sessions per week for 2.5-3 hours per session but are open to fitting into whatever is available whether that is one session or two. Currently people are able only to groom or to help take the horse for a walk as we have no-one who holds the appropriate Qualification as a riding instructor. This role is paramount for the project to be re-established.
Travel and out of pocket expenses including the cost of personal indemnity insurance will be covered for this position
Objectives: Our skills training projects set out to offer meaningful therapeutic activities to people who are marginalised, and through them to encourage greater self-confidence and esteem. Through a variety of practical projects confidence is increased and damaged individuals are empowered to rebuild their lives by developing new attitudes, habits and skills. In some cases we have seen people successfully enter the job market or undertake higher education, Others have moved forward in confidence to overcome obstacles caused by abuse or neglect and addiction, thereby furthering their potential and rehabilitation.
The horses and particularly riding have been proven to be the point of breakthrough for many people who have struggled with their difficulties long-term. We are very keen to get back on board with this project.
